For quite some time I've had a burden for the Hispanic youth ministries of Florida. I've met a lot of people that have been struggling with a decent youth ministry in their churches. There's a lot of need among the Hispanic churches and several factors are involved:

1. Most of the Hispanic churches cannot afford to have someone on staff to build a successful youth ministry.

2. Resources in Hispanic churches are limited.

3. Many churches don't have the leadership or training to build youth ministries that remain.

4. Hispanic churches struggle with a multi-cultural population, which adds to the difficulty of ministering to youth.

5. Hispanic churches face a "open back door" syndrome. This means that many of the youth that they try to build up, decide to leave to English speaking churches in which they relate better.

6. Hispanic youth ministries have the pressure of keeping Spanish as the primary language which limits the growth.

There are many reasons that affect many of the Hispanic churches around us. There is a great need for guidance and instruction to these dying youth ministries. English speaking youth ministries have a vast amount of resources to prepare and guide youth leaders. But the resources for Spanish churches are nonexistent.

Initially I’m planning to start a Spanish blog in which I plan to share my experiences, ideas and steps that I’ve learned and have helped me survive the last 8 years of youth ministry. For the future I hope to have a well based online resource center for Hispanic churches and leaders that want to start a youth ministry but have no resources. My desire is to eventually have a system to also have hands on time for training and guiding leaders and churches that may be struggling.
